Don’t worry, there will still be cookies, muffins and lots of photos of other baked goods. Recipe postings will still continue, only now there might be an update here and there about our wedding plans. With less than a year left, we really have to get a move on, seeing as how we barely know what we’re doing and even if we’re doing it right.

Sometimes the best therapy is baking cookies.

It can make a Friday night more bearable when your boyfriend is stuck working late and your friends cancel plans with you at the last minute.

Or also because you spent twice as long getting home from your daily commute from work since it’s summer time and apparently summer time also means road construction season.

And because you came home to an empty fridge and ate cold leftover pizza for supper, which is a little sad because its also the same cold, leftover pizza you brought to work for lunch.

But mostly it’s because nothing is more wholesome than baking cookies. It makes a home feel like a home and can bring a smile to any face. Whenever I move to a new place, I try to bake cookies within the first week. Despite being surrounded by boxes and usually having to dig out the essential spatula and baking sheets, I find that it brightens up the place. Plus it’s a nice break from unpacking.

There are some days where you just feel like you’re on top of the world. You wake up early, the sun is shining, your hair decides to cooperate, and there’s an extra bounce in your step. You arrive to work on time, go shopping during your lunch break and after work you come home and have a fabulous supper with a well-deserved glass of red wine.

You wish everyday could be like this.

Then there are the other days. You are late for work because of sleeping in and your umbrella turns inside out in the rain/wind, making it look like you decided to swim to work in your clothes. You forget your lunch at home, the congested traffic makes getting home a nightmare and you burn you and your significant other’s supper. When you reach for the bottle of red wine, you find it empty, so you decide to turn in even though it’s only 8pm.

I haven’t personally had that bad of a day, but we’ve all been there. You try to take on the world and it ends up pushing you right down again. What’s a person to do?

My brother Nathan is back at university and recently celebrated his birthday last month, so I bought some groceries (couple student food essential items) and made him some cookies to take back to his dorm room. I was always jealous of the other kids in my residence who got food from their families, so I thought this would be a nice treat.

After a long day at work, nothing is more delicious than a plate of warm, homemade cookies.

 Especially if the cookies are made with chopped white chocolate. 

 And roasted macadamia nuts. (I find that the unsalted kind works the best.)

Yes, I’m still hand-mixing my cookies. If it makes you feel better, I think its making my arms stronger. I like to think of it as exercise from eating all these baked goods.
